AAS Young Astronomers:
- An Austin Astronomical Society program for youth, ages 8 – 18, that involves
them in astronomy, provides a sound foundation and peer group involvement. AAS Youth
Program Committee and AAS mentors provide oversight.
- All young persons are invited to attend! Young Astronomers are
encouraged to be club members; but, like AAS, all meetings are open to the public.
- Youth led, adult mentored. Represented on the AAS Board and the Youth Program
Committee by the AAS Junior Member-at-Large.
- Special programs each month, specific to Young Astronomer’s interests.
- Young Astronomer observing nights in the Austin area and field trips as the
program develops. (Parental involvement required!)
- Recognize achievements of our youth through the Astronomical League’s National
Young Astronomer and Horkheimer Service Awards, as well as AAS Young Astronomer Certificates.
